Intravenous (IV) Antibiotics

When antibiotics are administered by IV, the correct sequence of liquids is SASH.  Saline – Antibiotic – Saline – Heparin.  Heparin may or may not be prescribed, based upon your condition and the type of device that the medication is entering your body through.  The following video shows a caregiver following the SASH method to infuse an antibiotic.  However, instructions specific to the antibiotic were not included – this is described in another video.
